JOURNAL HISTORY
Journal History
The Student Journal of Community Education (SJCE) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Department of Community Education, Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo, Indonesia. The journal was first published in August 2021, with its inaugural issue, Volume 1, Number 1. Since its establishment, SJCE has served as a platform for disseminating scholarly works and research findings in community education, nonformal education, and related fields.
In its early years, SJCE was published under the name of the Department of Out-of-School Education (Jurusan Pendidikan Luar Sekolah), Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. This institutional designation is reflected in the journal's initial publications, including its inaugural issue in August 2021 and subsequent issues in 2022.
As the academic unit's nomenclature evolved from Out-of-School Education (Pendidikan Luar Sekolah) to Community Education (Pendidikan Masyarakat), the journal's publishing identity was updated to reflect the department's current name and academic orientation. This development represents an evolution in the institutional identity of the journal's publisher, while the journal itself has retained its name, Student Journal of Community Education. The journal continues to operate under Universitas Negeri Gorontalo, maintaining its commitment to disseminating research and supporting scholarly communication in community education and related disciplines.
An important milestone in SJCE's development was its achievement of SINTA 5 accreditation. Based on the official national journal accreditation record, this accreditation applies from Volume 2, Number 1 (2022), through Volume 6, Number 2 (2026). This recognition marks a significant stage in the journal's development and reflects its participation in Indonesia's national academic journal accreditation system.
SJCE is registered with electronic ISSN 2828-9927 and uses the DOI prefix 10.37411. The journal follows a biannual publication schedule, with issues released in February and August each year. Its editorial and publishing activities are managed by the Department of Community Education, Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo, Indonesia.
Throughout its publication history, SJCE has provided a forum for scholarly contributions from students, researchers, academics, and practitioners. Its areas of interest include nonformal education, lifelong learning, adult education, early childhood education, community empowerment, educational management, literacy, equivalency education, training, and community development.
Looking ahead, SJCE remains committed to improving the quality of its editorial management, peer-review practices, publication standards, and scholarly dissemination. By maintaining its academic focus and developing its publication practices, the journal seeks to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and research in community education at the national and international levels.
