Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
1. General Principles
Jambura Elementary Education Journal recognizes the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and their potential applications in scientific research and scholarly publishing. The journal is committed to ensuring that AI technologies are used responsibly, transparently, and in accordance with established principles of research integrity and publication ethics.
This policy applies to authors, reviewers, and editors involved in the journal's publication process.
2. AI Use by Authors
Authors may use AI-assisted tools to support manuscript preparation, provided that such use does not compromise scientific originality, accuracy, transparency, or academic integrity.
AI-assisted language editing, grammar correction, and improvements in readability are permitted. The use of generative AI to produce or substantially modify scientific content must be clearly disclosed.
Authors remain fully responsible for all manuscript content, including mathematical formulations, theorems, proofs, computational results, statistical analyses, references, and conclusions.
AI-generated content must be critically verified. Authors must not submit fabricated references, unsupported mathematical claims, or unverified results produced by AI systems.
AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and ethical standards of scholarly work.
3. AI Use Declaration
Authors must disclose the use of generative AI tools that contribute to manuscript preparation or scientific content.
The declaration should identify the AI tool used and briefly describe its purpose.
When generative AI has been used, authors should include an AI Use Declaration in the manuscript.
Example:
The authors used [AI tool name] to assist with [specific purpose]. All AI-assisted content was reviewed and verified by the authors, who take full responsibility for the manuscript.
If no generative AI tools were used, authors may state:
The authors declare that no generative AI tools were used in the preparation of this manuscript.
Routine spelling, grammar, and reference-management tools that do not generate substantive content generally do not require disclosure.
4. AI Use by Reviewers
Jambura Elementary Education Journal strictly prohibits reviewers from using generative AI tools to evaluate manuscripts, generate review reports, analyze unpublished research content, or formulate editorial recommendations.
Reviewers must not upload, share, or disclose any part of a submitted manuscript, including mathematical equations, proofs, figures, tables, datasets, and supplementary materials, to external AI platforms.
All review reports and recommendations must be independently prepared by the assigned reviewers based on their scientific expertise and professional judgment.
Violations may result in termination of the review assignment and exclusion from future reviewing activities.
5. AI Use by Editors
Editors must exercise independent professional judgment when evaluating manuscripts and making editorial decisions.
Confidential manuscripts, reviewer reports, and unpublished research materials must not be uploaded to external generative AI systems.
Generative AI must not replace human editorial judgment or independently determine manuscript acceptance, revision, or rejection.
Editors remain responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, fairness, and integrity of the editorial process.
6. AI in Mathematical and Computational Research
The use of AI techniques as legitimate research methods, including machine learning, neural networks, optimization algorithms, and AI-based computational models, is permitted when relevant to the research objectives.
Such methods must be described with sufficient methodological detail to support scientific evaluation, reproducibility, and verification.
Authors must distinguish between AI used as a research methodology and generative AI used to assist manuscript preparation.
Mathematical claims, computational findings, and numerical results must be supported by appropriate theoretical justification, analytical verification, or methodological validation.
7. Policy Violations
Failure to disclose substantive generative AI use, submission of fabricated AI-generated content, unauthorized disclosure of confidential manuscripts, or other violations of this policy may result in editorial action.
Depending on the severity of the violation, actions may include requests for clarification, manuscript rejection, termination of reviewer assignments, or post-publication measures under the journal's relevant publication ethics policies.
8. Final Provisions
Jambura Elementary Education Journal maintains that AI technologies must support, rather than replace, human scientific reasoning, scholarly accountability, and independent editorial judgment.
The journal may periodically revise this policy to reflect developments in AI technologies and internationally recognized publication ethics standards.
